5th Supporters Cup Championship with $1,300 to charity
The Rebellion defeated The Midnight Riders 7-1 to win the 2024 Supporters Cup.
Rebel forward Jaydon Perez found the back of the net four times, while John Portage found it twice with 3 assists and Anthony Dugas had one goal. Rebel goalkeeper Richard Marrese, also had a strong performance with multiple game changing saves.
The game, a tradition between the Rebellion and the Riders since 2012, was held Saturday, July 21st. The Revs were kind enough to allow us to be one of the first people to ever play on the brand new turf at Field 4 at the training center. Each team had 23 player rosters for the 90-minute, 11 v 11 game. This year marks the fifth Supporters Cup win for the Rebellion, but they weren’t the only ones who came out on top.
Sales of the Rebellion’s 2024 Supporters Cup jersey, spots on the team, and spectator tickets all helped raise $1,300 for Rhode Island-based nonprofit Project GOAL (Greater Opportunity for Athletes to Learn). Founded in 2004, Project GOAL is dedicated to creating safe soccer spaces and programs for school children and their families. For more on Project GOAL, visit https://www.projectgoal.org/.
Thanks to all the Rebel players, members who came to cheer on the team, and everyone who helped make this game possible. Thanks also to the New England Revolution for the use of the training field as well as Brian and Cathal for attending the game.
