NEW ENGLAND, USA: Revolution supporters group, The Rebellion, have completed a last minute transfer! Literally hours before the January 31st window closed, they have received sports writer Matthew Martins in

exchange for reduced productivity at his day job.  This comes on the heels of a highly touted release of the new Rebellion website.  Experts speculate that Martins will be charged with covering all things Revs, MLS and American players abroad while maintaining their trademark sarcastic and hilarious manner all the while providing thorough insight and analysis. Rebellion:  Who are you and what are you doing on our website?

Martins: My name is Matt Martins. I am currently being held captive by leaders of The Rebellion. They have come up with this bogus fake press release saying I have been acquired to blog for their website. I have to hope they provide me adequate sustenance in order to survive, so I can make the scribbles they force me to write somewhat clear and coherent. If you are reading this now, then I am probably alive. Please save me.

Rebellion:  Quiet, boy! Write!

Martins: Okay, okay – I am here to contribute a soccer blog for new The Rebellion website. But, they did tell me I got paid in Choco Taco’s.

Rebellion:  Pretty good gig, no?

Martins: Absolutely! Have you had a Choco Taco?

No, on a serious note, it is a tremendous gig. I love how this group is handling themselves. They have grown organically, have accepted outsiders into the realm of the fine sport of soccer and cultivated the true spirit of the game here in New England. I just hope my contributions to their site can facilitate their growth and bring attention to the cause.

Rebellion:  Detail your intentions.  Now.

Martins: I feel my own agenda, which I hope to bring through my work here on nerebellion.org, accompanies theirs nicely. Like a streamer hitting a Mexican Red Bull midfielder taking a corner. I hope to add value to this blossoming faction by providing analysis and insight to its comrades. Writing pieces that inform the new fan, and inspire the old ones to think about the Revolution, the game, its place in the USA and domestic players who play abroad in a unique way. This is what I want my work to be about. I’d even hope to further the perception of soccer here in the States as a whole.

Rebellion:  How do you plan on doing that?

Martins: I plan to light orphanages on fire until the sport is accepted in this country.

Rebellion:  You won’t…or will you?

Martins: Oh, no. Not quite. That would be ridiculous; I am going to write about what I know relative to the game the Revolution and the league, while throwing in a joke or two. That will have to do for now.

Rebellion:  What do you know about the game?

Martins: I have been watching, studying and playing soccer for twenty plus years. This is when you go, “Oh boy, here comes a pretentious little soccer know it all.” Like I mentioned earlier, I can help the new fan learn the game and inspire the old fan to argue with me about it.  A following grows strong through passion for the game. Understanding and knowing the game reinforces that passion.

Rebellion:  Good answer, look forward to 2011 with you on board sir.  Anything else you want to say to your fellow Rebels?

Martins: No, my boss is back from lunch, I have to go….rise up, Go Revs!
