Meet the Rebel: Liam Quigley
Hi boys and girls!
After a little hiatus we are back with a brand new Rebel for you. Folks, I introduce to you, Mr. Liam Quigley.
Rebellion: Where are you from?
Liam: Born in Providence but have always lived in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Rebellion: What would you say is your first Revs memory?
Liam: Well i know my first game was in 1996 with my parents (Revs beat the crew in one of those ridiculous regular season shootouts they had back in the day). But i was so young that i really cant remember anything from it. But a year later my entire youth soccer team went to a game and just going to a game with all my friends was one of the best memories for me.
All i have to say is thank god we don’t still play in that awful stadium anymore. The weird thing is i remember how the game ended from the game in 96 but i cant even remember who the Revs played against in the game in 97.
Rebellion: How about your worst Revs memory?
Liam: man that’s a tough question…. Probably either Taylor Twellman retiring, or Shalrie being traded…. Probably Shalrie leaving. After so long it was just sad. I wanted to him to retire as a Revolution player. You don’t see many athletes dedicating so many years to a team like the Revs…. it would be like a baseball player dedicating his career to the Kansas city royals.
Rebellion: Everyone has a favorite Revs memory, what would yours be?
Liam: Honestly? Probably my favorite memory was seeing the Revs play Celtic in 2007 at Gillette with my Dad. Just because it gave me a chance to see my two favorite teams play each other even though Celtic didn’t field their first team.
Rebellion: What’s something we might be surprised to know about you?
Liam: For a really long time i really liked the Montreal Impact as my USL/NASL team…. BEFORE THEY WERE IN THE MLS! But they never came close to the Revs. Revs are the first team to me no matter what.
Rebellion: For those Rebels who do know you, what’s something they don’t know about you?
Liam: For all the talk i do about soccer i honestly am probably the worst FIFA player in the world. If you play, please don’t play against me…. it’ll just hurt my self esteem haha
Rebellion: Do you work? In School?
Liam: At the moment i work at Iggy’s Doughboys and Chowderhouse in Warwick, but I’m looking for another job. And for school I’m on-again off-again at CCRI. One of the weird thing about working at Iggys is that lots of tourists come by to grab a quick bite and I’ve actually met a lot of MLS fans in the process. Ive had people come in from DC, Columbus, Chicago, NY/NJ, Houston, LA (galaxy), and the latest one was from TFC fans…. the TFC fans were the most obnoxious when i brought it up which I was surprised about.
Rebellion: Do you have Twitter? Would you like to connect with other Rebels & Revs fans?
Liam: Absolutely not on the twitter question haha, I’m going to be the last person to join that. I don’t know what it is about twitter but i cant stand it. But feel free to friend request me on Facebook if you’re a Revs fan.
Rebellion: Lastly, you joining us in Montreal in later this month?
Liam: if i can get my passport ill be there…. so long as i can figure out a ride situation also if there’s no bus
We want to thank Liam for being a part of our series and for letting us get to know him just a little better.
If you would like to be a part of this wonderful series, then send us an email and we’ll add you to the list!
